Description

This data set was derived from the Riverbank dataset, which aims to identify those foreshore areas most in need of works. Riverbank dataset assesses Built Foreshores, Natural Foreshores, Riparian Ecological Value and Useability of Foreshores to identify priorities. This data set represents the most up to date assessment of foreshore reserve useability. The Swan River Trust Riverpark Useability Index was developed to provide a set of indicators to assess the level of community benefit and amenity of Parks and Recreation Reserves managed for public access (ECU/ SRT, 2011). In 2013, a portion of Riverpark reserves were field assessed for useability by May Carter (approx. 150) with the remaining Riverpark reserves (approx. 110) desktop assessed in 2017 and 2019. High priority foreshores were re-assessed by commercial researchers via site visits in January 2020. The data provides a Swan Canning Riverpark wide assessment of reserve useability. Land not mapped in this data set has been considered ‘not managed for any form of recreation’. Feedback on accuracy and recency of data is welcome.
